Mississippi First has hired Josh McCawley as our Teen Health Policy Coordinator. Josh will provide issue education and advocacy for local and state-level policies related to teen sexual health.He will also work directly with the Deputy Director of Community Outreach to assist in district advocacy for the Creating Healthy and Responsible Teens (CHART) Abstinence-Plus Policy and teacher training on the CHART curricula. In the months ahead, Mississippi First will continue to expand their CHART advocacy work by adopting additional districts across the state while also deepening their work in ten of the current CHART districts.

Josh, a Nebraska native, is joining the MSF team after spending over two years in Philadelphia, PA.  While in Philadelphia, Josh earned a Master of Public Health degree from Drexel University and worked with the International Association of Firefighters and the Thomas Scattergood Foundation.  After receiving his undergraduate degree from the University of Nebraska in 2006, Josh taught high school math for two years in the Mississippi Delta and two years in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
