The Mississippi Youth Council (MYCouncil) is made up of 10 passionate youth activists from across Mississippi that support and promote high-quality comprehensive sex education for all young people. We work to ensure that young people have a voice in the debate around what gets taught in our schools.

The 2017-2018 MYCouncil application process is now closed (6/1/2017).

If you submitted an application by May 31, 2017, we will be conducting rolling interviews in-person until we have all 10 slots filled, whichever occurs first. If you have any questions about MYCouncil or about your submitted application, please contact Christopher Cox at or call 769-208-4060.

MYCouncil Goals

  • Raise awareness among youth about the need for sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) and pregnancy prevention efforts for themselves and other young people in Mississippi
  • Advocate for comprehensive sex education in Mississippi public schools and other policy priorities
  • Empower other youth to get involved in their communities
