Types of Trainings

Parent/Askable Adult Trainings
Our trusted adult trainings focus on best practices for supporting young people who are transitioning into adulthood and may include: reviews of stages of adolescent; discussions around appearance ideals, body confidence, and self-esteem; and how to talk to youth and young adults about their sexual-reproductive and mental health. Our Trusted Adults trainings also include trauma-related ones on topics including child abuse, domestic violence, and cyberbullying.
Youth-Friendly Healthcare
The Youth Friendly Healthcare Training Series provides trainings and technical assistance to healthcare providers, staff, and centers with the tools needed to become more youth-friendly. Trainings cover topics such as best practices for youth-friendly healthcare, minors’ rights, and barriers to youth-friendly healthcare. We also help health centers assess their youth-friendliness by working with youth from the local community to do clinic walkthroughs and secret shopper activities.
Expectant and Parenting Youth Training Series
Through the Expectant and Parenting Youth Training Series, we provide trainings to service providers to build their capacity to support the unique needs of the expectant and parenting youth (EPY) they serve. That includes identifying and accessing the youth-friendly and high-quality medical, social, educational, and other services they need to be physically and emotionally healthy.
Mental Health First Aid
Teen Health Mississippi now offers Mental Health First Aid training for youth and adults. In the courses, participants will learn how to be a mental health first responder and when and how to connect people to mental health services. THMS staff members are certified to do Youth Mental Health First Aid (adults to young people), Adult Mental Health First Aid (adult to adult), and teen Mental Health First Aid (teen to teen). Teaching Sex Education
Sex Ed trainings provide customized training for your organization, school, or clinic, including but not limited to, trainings in Core Skills for Sex Education, Draw the Line/Respect the Line, Reducing the Risk, and Making Proud Choices.
