LGBTQ 101: Get The Basics! is part 1 of our 3-part series for the LGBTQ training. This training equips our participants with:
- Knowledge of the Issues. An understanding of the LGBTQ community will help participants connect with the lives and experiences of LGBTQ students.
- Terminology to Support All Students. Becoming knowledgeable of key terms is the first step in helping participants respond to LGBTQ youth in culturally appropriate ways.
- An Examination of Personal Values. Examining personal values and beliefs will ensure participants understand how their world-view may impact their approach to LGBTQ youth.
- Knowledge of Gender Pronouns. Learning gender pronouns will help supportive adults interact with LGBTQ youth in ways that are thoughtful and in ways that respect the identity of LGBTQ youth.
